Right Coast Formula F Series Rule Set
If you are considering entering one of the RCFFS race events and are not sure that either you or your car meets any of the rules listed below, please contact us and we will help clarify conformity to the rules.
CARS and TIRES
For RCFFS events, all cars are required to meet the technical specifications for Formula F as described in the SCCA General Competition Rule book with the following exception/inclusion. There will be NO additional 25 pound weight penalty for those cars with the wider "European spec" side pods. ALL cars are required to meet a post race weight of 1110 pounds including driver (Ford Cortina Engine: 1060 lbs.). This means that any Formula F chassis may use the Ford Cortina, Ford Kent Uprated, or Honda Fit engines.
The tire rules for RCFFS are simple; any car entered as a Formula F may use any tire that fits on the SCCA GCR specified 5.5” x 13” wheel. There is no specified compound or construction; tires are “free” (from constraint; this should not be interpreted as RCFFS giving tires away at no cost).
The RCFFS also accepts the Toyo Proxes tires as specified by the CASC Ontario Region in Section 'C’: Formula 1600.
Any car entered as a CF must comply with the Northeast Division Championship Series 2016 Club Ford Rules. A copy of the rules can be found on the SCCA NEDIV website here. Essentially the car must meet the following conditions:
Note: It is also permitted to run a FF class car on the above hard compound "CF" tires should an entrant desire to do so.
Any car entered as a Historic Formula Ford must conform to the Monoposto rule set. A copy of the Monoposto rules can be seen at monoposto.com. All Historic Formula Ford cars must run on one of the “vintage racing” treaded tires from Hoosier/Avon/Dunlop.

CAR LOGBOOKS
The SCCA requires that all cars have a logbook and that an annual technical inspection be performed. This requirement is also a part of the RCFFS regimen. Our Chief Technical Inspector is a very busy man and in consideration of this we ask that you please prepare as follows:
- Fill out your logbook before you bring the logbook and your helmet to tech inspection.
- We ask that if you have not had an annual tech inspection that you make every attempt to get one done before you come to RCFFS. If you cannot, please notify us at least one week before the event so that we can make arrangements to have one performed on our weekend.
LICENSING REQUIREMENTS
- Any current valid SCCA competition license will be accepted at all RCFFS events.
- The SCCA has reciprocal license acceptance agreements with most of the vintage and other major sanctioning bodies and licenses from those other entities will be accepted. If you are in doubt, please contact us and we will get an answer for you.
MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS
For SCCA sanctioned events in order to be covered by the SCCA participant insurance, any non-SCCA member must purchase a temporary weekend membership. The fee for this is $15 to $25 depending upon the region administering the event. This can be done at the track when credentials are being obtained. Again, if you can contact us prior to the event, we can get a form to you so that you can fill it out in advance to expedite the processes at the track.
