Right Coast Formula F Series Traditions
We have managed to initiate some things that have become part of our “tradition” since our informal race series began in October 2013. These things that perhaps make the Right Coast Formula F Series racing for the DUFFUS cup unique have really come about because from the onset our drivers grasped the concept of doing this just for fun and not taking ourselves too seriously.
A Trophy is Reared
Shortly after we announced the formation of DUFFUS on the ApexSpeed website we were asked things like will there be series stickers, trophies, etc. So, in full recognition of being serious about having fun with this; Joe Marcinski replied that he had once seen a trophy that was the rear end of a horse. Almost immediately Ric Baribeault replied with a picture of just such a trophy and a source. The die was cast. The most obvious of our unusual traditions was born to be the Horse Hindquarters trophy.
To further emphasize our desire to ensure that everyone understood that we were doing this just for the fun, it was suggested that we add one trophy position. The position was “Dead Last”. A trophy is brought to each race to be presented to the driver who finishes last in the final race of each weekend. Acceptance of the trophy is optional. We have actually had debates about drivers whose weekends were not going well actually “tanking” so that they could get the trophy. After all, a trophy is a trophy, right?

A Series Needs Stickers and Patches
From that point on, the view of the equine posterior took on a life of its own. Two drivers, Angela Slocum and David Gernert, who dabble in the graphic arts, came up with a design for the DUFFUS stickers featuring, of course, a horse looking over his shoulder at some aero tube suspension projecting from his hips with a nice fat set of slick tires mounted up. Kill stickers with the image for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers appeared along with patches, tech stickers, and even a few coffee mugs.
Need Giveaways
Unbeknownst to Angela and Dave, they started a tradition of poster giveaways when creating the first one for the WDCR Formula Fest event in October 2013 to help advertise the race and have something to give the drivers who were participating. A suggestion was made that all the drivers be asked to sign a couple of the posters which were then mounted in appropriately frugally priced frames and presented to the first place finishers in Formula F and Club Ford at Formula Fest.
When DUFFUS was announced, the tradition of posters continued with having all the drivers sign a few of the posters which are given to the first place finishers of the final race of each weekend in FF, CF, and HF. We also give a signed poster to our series Chief Steward as a thank you for his participation and tolerance.

New Name, No Problem, Same Traditions
For the Right Coast Formula F Series (RCFFS) there will be new stickers and patches as well as a season poster sporting the new RCFFS logo. We are going to continue handing out DUFFUS logo kill & tech sticker because we really, really like them and after all we are the “Right Coast Formula F Series racing for the DUFFUS Cup”. The Brian Trust have had some pretty twisted ideas for what that DUFFUS Cup might look like, but decorum prevents us from sharing them with you
Any More Traditions?
This is our quirky “traditions” so far. We are sure there are more to come; we are just not sure what they are yet. You will just have to come race with us if you want to find out what we come up with or help create a “tradition”.
